Before the hand is dealt, the players must make their bets. If you look at the table in the picture, you can see four circles in each player position. They are Play, Ante, Super Bonus, and Queens Up. You place your bets inside the appropriate circles. Your betting choices are an Ante Bet that means that you are going to play poker, your four card hand against the dealer’s four card hand, and a Super Bonus bet. Those two bets are required. You can also make an Queens Up bet meaning that you think that your four card hand will actually contain a pair of Queens or better and a Bad Beat Bonus bet meaning that you think you may lose or win with a very good hand. The table minimum and maximum are posted somewhere so you can see how much you need to bet. In most Casinos, if you make the minimum Ante bet, you can play the Queens Up bet for any amount between the minimum and maximum, but that is a house by house rule. If the game is $10 minimum, you can usually play the Queens Up for $5 or even $1, but you have to have your minimum bet first.
If you are going to play, you have to bet the Ante and the Super Bonus. That’s what starts the hand. You must place two equal bets, the Ante bet and the Super Bonus bet. Once the bets are placed, never touch them again until the hand is over. Do not push them in if you are folding. Do not pick a bet up to put your cards under it. This is a rule in any and every Casino. Do not touch the bets!
The dealer then gives all the Players and himself cards. This is your hand.
After looking at your hand you can either fold, which means your hand is over and you lose both bets, or you can stay in the game by making an additional bet, the Play bet. The Play bet must be equal to the Ante bet, unless you have a pair of Aces or better. With a pair of Aces or better, the Play bet may be up to three times the Ante.
The dealer then acts on the hands. He exposes his cards and determines if he has qualified.
If the dealer does not qualify with King-high or better your Play bet wins 1 to 1 and the Ante bet is a push
If you beat dealer’s qualifying hand of with King-high or better both your Play bet and Ante bet win 1 to 1
If you lose to dealer’s qualifying hand of with King-high or better both your Play bet and Ante bet lose
If you tie the dealers qualifying hand of with King-high or better both your Play bet and Ante bet push. A push means there is no action taken on the hand. You neither win nor lose, and the hand is over.
Super Bonus
The Super Bonus wins when you get a straight or better. If you do not get at least a straight the Super Bonus bet pushes when you beat or tie the dealer.
Hands of straight or better are always paid Super Bonus payouts. When you have a straight or better but lose to the dealer’s qualifying hand, you still receive Super Bonus payouts and the original Super Bonus bet is a push.
Queens Up
The Queens Up side bet is optional, and you can make the Queens Up bet for any amount within the posted table limits. You can bet more on the Queens Up bet than you bet on the Ante and Super Bonus, or less.
The Queens Up side bet wins when you get a pair of Queens or better. Odds are printed on layout. The bet loses when you don’t get at least a pair of Queens.
